National Coming Out Day

I don't think it'll be a surprise to anyone who's been reading here at LJ for a while that I am a bisexual, kinky, polyamorous woman. I'm trying to decide if I'm ready to make that announcement on Facebook, where I have some very conservative family members and friends. I'm leaning towards maybe yes.

Via [livejournal.com profile] jrittenhouse, Cathy Shulman claims it was a mistake:

"Did I really say that? I meant my husband and my daughter, Leah. If I said that, it proves how nervous I was. Oh my God. Did I really say that?" -- "Crash" producer Cathy Schulman explaining her unorthodox decision to thank "my husband and my wife" in her acceptance speech.

Not knowing anything about her relationship(s), I suppose I'll have to take her at her word. Ah well.

"Martin Scorsese: zero Oscars. Three 6 Mafia: one."

*snicker*

[Edit: In the best picture acceptance speech, I didn't hear it too clearly because the music was coming up, but did Cathy Schulman thank "my husband and my wife"? *blink* ]

Today is Pungenday, day 11 in the season of The Aftermath, 3271.

'(Re)writing the Lexicon of Love in mono-normative Culture: Constructions of alternative Languages in on-line polyamorous Communities'

(One of the presentations at the International Conference on Polyamory & Mono-Normativity at the University of Hamburg, found via [livejournal.com profile] polyamory.)

To lighten the mood a bit:

[livejournal.com profile] ame_chan explains it all: how to find a spouse/third/HBB in three easy steps. Things like this are pretty much the only reason I even bother with [livejournal.com profile] polyamory most days.

Notes to self: (cue Super Milk Chan: "You dumbass!")

* Check to see if you're using the "butter-flavored" instant grits before you add a big dollop of butter. Oog. You really can have too much "butter flavor". On the other hand, the cat is helping himself to the remains and seems happy enough with it.

* When you're getting ready for bed and wonder why it is your face seems to be peeling a bit, <hint> take a look at that jar of night cream full of retinol in your hand</hint>.

Now, do I go to the used book/music store, or do I realize that it is far too dangerous to go into such a place right this minute and wisely stay home?

From [livejournal.com profile] mactavish, Polyamory is wrong! (Heehee.)

Speaking of polyamory, it appears I will not be risking driving up to Baltimore this evening to meet up with alt.polycon attendees. =( (Actually, if I left *right now*, I might possibly be there in time for the dinner, but having caught a glimpse of traffic outside, I wouldn't swear to it.)

Since the time for me to get off my butt and make a final decision is drawing very near, who all's going to be at alt.polycon? (Even if I don't end up going to the con, I'd probably be able to drive up for dinner on Saturday or something.)
