I don't think it'll be a surprise to anyone who's been reading here at LJ for a while that I am a bisexual, kinky, polyamorous woman. I'm trying to decide if I'm ready to make that announcement on Facebook, where I have some very conservative family members and friends. I'm leaning towards maybe yes.

I hope that goes well.

I'd give it a couple of days. Then do whatever your gut tells you. The gut, after all, is the ancient part of ourselves that hasn't yet learned to doubt itself.

I wish you very good luck. It's not an easy decision to make when you face diminution in your family. Whatever choice you make, I'm in your corner.

What did you decide? I posted to fb but to a restricted list. So any non-related people I had on the list have seen it but I didn't confront my family about it yet.

...and we love you for it :)

I remember having a conversation with my dad more than a decade ago about being poly. It was incredibly scary for me at the time but in retrospect I was glad I did it because at that time in my life it was a really important facet of my life.

I'm not sure if faceypage is the way to do it, but half the time people miss the crap I post to FB so you've got a 50/50 shot that someone on that list of conservative relatives might miss.

I do think that coming out is a good thing in general, it's just the "how" to do it is the eternal question...

If anyone searches my "timeline" on FB, they'll find that I started a relationship with my lovers at the same time. FB lets you do that now, though it doesn't let you put that as your status. It's a pretty cool start, anyway...

So, what did you decide? And - if you did do it - what was the response?
