Okay, I think I'm officially going stir-crazy.  The office is closed again today except for essential staff (which is apparently my boss and the director of ops), but I'm strongly considering going in for at least a couple of hours to get some work done like that server rebuild that I can't do remotely. I'll see how I feel after I manage to  shovel out my car and can get a look at the state of the side roads out to 7100.

Oh, HELL no.

Like it or not, the reality is that the latest information this evening points to a moderate, if not major in some places, snowstorm Tuesday into Wednesday.
[...]
At least 4 inches is looking like a decent bet, with 8 inches or more a possibility. Here's our accumulation probabilities, which are likely to change as the storm gets closer:

15%: Less than 2"
25%: 2-5"
35%: 5-8"
25%: 8"+

We just finished digging out my car after Snowmageddon.</whine>

  1. Supplies both sublime (Dogfish Head World Wide Stout, a big hunk of pot roast for the crock pot) and ridiculous (components for Ro-tel dip) laid in?  Check.
  2. Enough unwatched DVDs, Hulu,  and new-to-us Playstation games to last us until the end of the month, if not the end of time?  Check.
  3. Printouts of local-ish pet-friendly hotels in case of power loss?  Check. (We have a fireplace. The chimney hasn't been inspected/cleaned since long before we moved in 6 years ago, and given the state of repair of the rest of the house...I'm not feeling up to risking lighting a fire in it even if we had any dry wood.)
  4. Enough Lush bath products to supply a small city?  Check.
  5. Bird/squirrel/raccoon feeder fully stocked?  Well, it was earlier.
  6. Various cardboard boxes/storage bins/etc. that can serve as sleds because I WILL go play this time before I settle in to shovel out the sidewalk? Check check.

I think I'm ready for the snowpocalypse, which is well under way.  They're talking up to 3" an hour through 3 AM and then lesser rates continuing through Saturday.

I thought I was going to be all smart by going to the grocery store tonight instead of tomorrow night (in preparation for Friday/Saturday's planned Snowpocalypse II: Electric Boogaloo).

Yeah.

This is the line at Wegmans at 10 PM tonight, and there were several people in line behind me. (Click to embiggen.)

All open lines looked like this. I hope those cashiers are getting hazard pay for working tonight and tomorrow.

The Sterling Wegmans was seriously cleaned out; I don't think I've ever seen so many empty shelves in a grocery store. A couple of us snapped pics of the bread shelves that contained only a single (opened) loaf of wheat bread. I did manage to get a gallon of milk, but failed at finding snow boots at the Target across the street.

ZOMGIT'STHESNOWPOCALYPSEANDWE'REALLGONNADIIIIEEEEE!!!! Or something.

'Sokay, I have eggs and bread and bacon and booze and a big pan of mac-n-cheese and booze and egg nog and booze and enough cat food to keep us from getting gnawed on in our sleep, plus I'm on vacation for the next two weeks. Let it snow!
