I thought I was going to be all smart by going to the grocery store tonight instead of tomorrow night (in preparation for Friday/Saturday's planned Snowpocalypse II: Electric Boogaloo).

All open lines looked like this. I hope those cashiers are getting hazard pay for working tonight and tomorrow.

What is the deal with this? People around here seem to go nuts to stockpile things when big snows-especially toilet paper.

Was there a storm that basically ended civilization for a few days at some point?

There was a blizzard in 78 that shut down most of the midwest and northeast for about a week - I remember running out of a few things before we could manage to walk to the store (the car was still buried and the roads still unplowed)

Looks like we get lucky and the storm takes a hard right and misses us. As of now it's 20% chance of snow.

Heh. It's 100% chance here, and the last forecasts I saw were calling for anywhere between 16" and 28". Hooray?
