Busy weekend. Stopped by [livejournal.com profile] margoeve's birthday party in the afternoon and [livejournal.com profile] tazira's villians party much later that evening (and by that I mean "early next morning"). I'm afraid I wasn't exactly the life of either party, since I was feeling more than a little withdrawn and the introvert was definitely in control. I was pleased that at least a couple of people recognized the Dr. Girlfriend (Dr. Mrs. The Monarch) costume at the later party; I was dyeing the jacket at 6:30 and spraypainting the hat at 7 (the fabric I bought to cover it with wasn't working out so well, but that spraypaint designed for plastic worked a charm), so I'm frankly impressed I pulled it together in time to leave the house at all. The real question is: "Where am I ever going to wear knee-high white boots with 4-inch heels ever again?"

Sunday (way too early, after not getting to bed until around 5:30) we took advantage of an extra pair of tickets to see Corteo with [livejournal.com profile] rdhdsnippet, [livejournal.com profile] scherzoid, [livejournal.com profile] dababybean and a host of others. I think this is my favorite Cirque show ever in terms of costume and set design, although performance-wise I'm not sure whether I liked this or Dralion more.

Last night all the social stuff and lack of sleep caught up with me: I crashed on the sofa around 7:30, then woke up at 1:45 and went to bed. I thought I'd probably end up waking up around 3 AM and being up for the day, but I didn't wake up again until my alarm went off at 8. Twelve hours of sleep seem to have been what I needed and I wasn't in my normal Monday pissy mood. Of course the fact it's suddenly dark before I leave work is putting me back into a bad mood. Fifty-three days until the sunlight starts coming back, and 132 days until we can get back on DST in mid-March. (For the record, not interested in hearing rants about DST here please.) I think I may need to get a lightbox this year; the SAD has hit early and hard.

I adore your costume. :-)
I hear you on the standard time thing. The sun was starting to go down here at 4 PM... that's not right.

ever again?"
You want the short or long list?

the SAD has hit early and hard.
If it was not for trying to finish up the apartment and my other distraction I think I'd feel it a lot more.
When that distraction goes and I remember how empty this place is it's going to hit hard.

Oh I couldn't do that it would be improper, and far too graphic for children to see.

Wait there are no kids!!!

Next year, gonna wear the outfit she has on when she breaks up with the Monarch and stops by Phantom Limb's house?

Hee! Great costume!

I don't get SAD, but even I was bummed when I left work today and walked out into darkness.

They really do make a difference - I recommend. I'm told that even plant lights can help if the correct full spectrum lights aren't available/are too expen$ive.

I thought the girl-thing to do was to build an entire outfit around them so you have something to wear with them.

If you find you're really stuck, I'm sure I could come up with places and reasons to wear almost any sort of high-heeled boots. :-D
