I'd said something on Sunday about how I'd like to move out of this place once our lease is up in April. There was a note under our door when I got home today that the new management company is turning this place into condos. We'll get first chance to buy, but frankly I don't see myself wanting to own this place. Condos = all the drawbacks of apartment living + all the drawbacks of homeownership. No thanks.

Unrelated tangent: Schweet! I now have space for 50 userpics. God knows how I'm going to come up with 40 more good icons though.

Or... all the benefits of home ownership and all the benefits of apartments :) Meaning: The tax breaks and controls of being an owner, and the maintenance and exterior appearance side of it being managed by the condo association. :)

But that's just my take on it at the moment, ask me again in a couple years when I've been living in the condo for a bit, and my opinion may be different. :)

Ah, see I find the presence of a condo/homeowner's association to be a negative, I am not fond of them. And honestly I find the drawbacks of having neighbors immediately below and next door to be a big negative, and I'm sure our neighbors feel the same way. =) Of course even if I did want to spend $250K+ on a condo, this one wouldn't be it; the construction is very shoddy and it's a cheesy gated community.
