Today is Setting Orange, day 16 in the season of Bureaucracy, 3271.

In random bits and pieces for now, I'll probably try to be more organized about it after I get home.

I've been waking up between 6:30 and 7 AM the last couple of days. That's just weird. I've also been passed out well before midnight, which might explain the getting up at the crack of dawn.

Boulder is wonderful. If it weren't for about seventeen reasons it would be a bad idea, I'd be checking out the job market. *cough*Sun*cough* But I'm not, I promise. I'm staying put for now.

I thought Virginia was bad with the "it's 3:45, time for a thunderstorm" thing. Yeesh. Given the sheer number of lightning strikes I've seen in the last three days, it's hard to believe you could live here for any significant amount of time and not get hit. (Okay, I exaggerate a bit, but I've still seen a huge amount of lightning. Missed the hail in Colorado Springs on Saturday though.)

It took longer than I expected to get to Taos. I did putter around a bit though, doing some more hiking and picture-taking around NCAR and then stopping at the Garden of the Gods and doing some more hiking and picture-taking until the regularly-scheduled afternoon storms came rolling in over the mountains. There were also the three or so times I nearly had to pull over to the side of the highway because it was raining so hard I could barely see the road in front of me; that'll screw with your travel schedule, yes indeed. I also didn't stop to think where 64 took me, which meant I didn't take into account that there'd be a large chunk of the trip on canyon roads with 25 mph speed limits. Stunningly beautiful trip, but I think I might need to look for a faster route back to Denver for Wednesday.

It would've been useful to bring either a card reader, the USB cable, or the 512 MB compact flash card. Oops. And the free wireless in the room is just like wireless, except with ethernet. :-P Luckily they have cables at the front desk, because all I have with me is my wireless card.

Okay, finished with work and finished with boring you nice people for now. It's 11 PM, and I'm apparently ready for bed. That's not riiiiiiight.

Today is Sweetmorn, day 17 in the season of Bureaucracy, 3271.

I stuck a few pictures from vacation-in-progress up on my site, others will follow once I get them sorted and edited.

BunBun's been pestering me to post his photos and swearing he'll jump on the bed all night to make sure I don't get any rest if I don't. Since I have to get up at the crack o'dawn tomorrow to make sure I get back to Denver on time, I'll humor him. That done, it's time to go try to pack and then crash.
