A request

(Made a general post because it's not just here, it's something I run into pretty much everywhere, especially so recently.)

While I'm the first to admit to often being embarrassed beyond belief by the behavior of some of the residents of my home state, could we please lay off the "stupid Mississippian" jokes for a bit? :( I admit that I'm being oversensitive about it, but, y'know, I am from Mississippi even if I don't happen to live there anymore, most of my family is there, I have friends from there, and it's really getting irritating hearing repeatedly how we're all idiots.

All that above. Clearly Mississippians are very smart because they vetoed that awful amendment, like Ohioans voted down the one that would have gutted collective bargaining. Also, I know a Misssissippian who does something so complicated to computers that I'd just be staring at it apelike, going, "Uh, letter and number on screen make machine do thing?"

This, sorry you have to deal with this. I really don't like it when liberals (or any one else, really) insinuate that everyone who disagrees with them are stupid. First it's not true. Second it makes it REALLY difficult to have useful conversation about the topics of disagreement.

Hopefully I haven't made any jokes like that...

I actually play World of Warcraft with some really nice folks from the southern states. There's a very nice young couple who are from Kentucky, and another who are from Texas (near Dallas).

While the state governments of various states do some really stupid, obnoxious stuff, not all the residents of that state think the same way (most folks just want to be left alone to live their life just like everyone else).

It would be like folks poking fun at all folks from IL because of Blaggo. Silly.
