I'm unbelievably stressed, so here's a bunny with a pancake on its head clip of Iggy Pop and Tom Waits.

Time for a new engine in my car, to the tune of more than the car is actually worth at this point. My decision now is: 1) drop the money to replace the engine and fix the leaking exhaust manifold into this car and keep driving it; 2) buy a beater for about an equivalent amount of money; or 3) suck it up and just go hunting for a new car and hope to get $250 or so for trade-in on my poor little Protege.

It's not completely unexpected news, but I was hoping that wasn't going to be the answer.

On the positive side, after the last couple of days I can recommend Ferris Automotive. You wouldn't think a mechanic would recommend buying a new car rather than giving them a several-thousand dollar job. I wouldn't anyway, not based on previous experience with different mechanics. Now I'm kicking myself for not having gone to them first.

I spent very little of today crying, got some amount of work done that I'd wanted to finish up yesterday and kept on top of the new stuff that appeared in my inbox. That's an improvement over yesterday.

Unfortunately, I also spent more than a couple of minutes talking myself down from the edge of panic attacks. I think perhaps I'm a wee bit stressed, and maybe I'll take some theanine and/or valerian before leaving the house tomorrow. At least I was successful in staving them off, so there's something.

Aaaauuuuugggggghhhhhhh!!!!!!!

I basically screwed around last night and didn't do much of anything other than curl up with The Encyclopedia of Fantastic Victoriana. That means tonight involves what looks to be four or five loads of laundry if I'm thorough, maybe two otherwise. Packing. Cleaning cat box and pig cage. Eating something so I don't pass out. Packing up food for the cat and washing/packing up his blankie for his trip to the vet for boarding. Install iTunes and transfer some music to the laptop. @!#$, I didn't print out my eticket confirmations before I left work and my printer at home isn't working. Tomorrow I have to drop the cat off at the vet, come home, call a cab and get to Dulles no later than 10:30 for my noon flight because I put my chances of being "randomly selected" for extra screening at about 99%, seeing as how I bought a one-way ticket online. If I get lucky and don't spend extra time being searched, I'll have both Eddie Izzard and Greg House to keep me company while I wait for my flight.

And did I mention that I spent a good chunk of today with a lovely cough? I am not getting sick. I am not getting sick. I'm not.

I love travelling. I hate the part leading up to it though.
