I do not care how cool the fireworks are, you do not stop and park in the travel lane of a two-lane road. At night. In the rain. Especially without putting your hazards on, or at least giving some sort of sign that your ass is going to be blocking traffic until the fireworks are done. Jerks.
That said, the Fairfax fireworks display itself was surprisingly impressive. Next year perhaps we should try and go over there a good bit earlier, not least because the 9:20 start time advertised in the paper was apparently really 9:10. I know that, as my dad used to argue, setting off fireworks is essentially taking cash and setting it on fire, but I still love 'em.
