Jun. 16th, 2007 08:54 pmI'm all about the free entertainment these days.
The Post has a listing of free outdoor movies around the DC area, including showings in Shirlington, Fairfax, and Bethesda. The Strathmore lineup and Screen on the Green (on the Mall near the Washington Monument) look particularly good.
Also, there's a Clint Eastwood film festival going on at both Crystal City and Rosslyn.

The annual Screen on the Green festival brings free films to the Mall on Monday nights, where they're shown on a giant 20-by-40-foot screen between Fourth and Seventh Streets. The films begin at dusk, or roughly between 8:30 and 9. Viewers often arrive as early as 5, so plan to get there well in advance. If there's inclement weather, screenings may be canceled. Call 877-262-5866.
The schedule is:
July 16: "Annie Hall" (1977)
July 23: "The Thing (From Another World)" (1951)
July 30: "Wait Until Dark" (1967)
Aug. 6: "All the King's Men" (1949)
Aug. 13: "Casablanca" (1942)
[Strathmore] Movies will begin at approximately 8:30 p.m. each evening, with grounds opening at 6:30 p.m. All screenings are held on the grounds adjacent to the mansion. Bring a blanket or low beach chair. No dogs are permitted. The schedule for this year's festival is:
August 10: Night at the Museum
August 11: Casino Royale
August 12: Over the Hedge
August 13: Wizard of Oz
August 14: North by Northwest
August 15: The Devil Wears Prada
August 16: Ocean's Eleven
