Randomness

The weekend was heavy on the social interactions. Friday night [livejournal.com profile] nminusone and I went to go see "Smokin' Aces" at Tyson's. Unfortunately, so did everyone else and the show was sold out. Instead we ended up seeing "Epic Movie". I recommend rental, preferably from a redbox location for $1. Sit through the credits for a bit, there are two extra scenes of varying levels of hilarity. Saturday [livejournal.com profile] boadiccea and [livejournal.com profile] thetalkingmoose came over for pizza and zombie movies and we had a nice, low-key evening. Sunday, we saw "Pan's Labyrinth" with [livejournal.com profile] tommx. Wow. That movie is beautiful. And sad. And terrible. And wonderful. I definitely want to see it again, even though there were a few scenes that had me covering my eyes. I was also pleased to see that my expensive piece of paper did me some good in that I could understand a fair amount of it without the subtitles.

What does a woman with poor hand-eye coordination do when she wants to take up a new hobby? She picks up a pair of fluffy pink poi and a video, of course. Because you certainly don't need hand-eye coordination to spin poi or anything.

Some links:

I feel kind of dirty for lusting after Daniel Radcliffe (you know, Harry Potter) since he's some fraction of my age approaching half, but daaaaaaamn. (This one sfw, some others in this gallery mostly so. They're from a production of "Equus".)

For steampunk fans: the opti-transcripticon - scanner mod. I want. I think Brass Goggles is my current favorite blog, surpassing even longtime fave The Daily WTF.

Processing "is an open source programming language and environment for people who want to program images, animation, and sound". I really want to play with this a bit.

Perhaps Wegmans should hire someone to do QA on their cakes. I want a cake with random code on it; I think perhaps I'll get one that says "<cake />" for the next party. And a platter that says "404: Cake not found".

I think my wedding's probably going to take place on a pirate ship in Vegas, and I promise the electric slide will have no place at the reception. Everyone in the wedding party has to be prepared to do this, however. Hee!

When we were wedding planning, some people encouraged us to go to Vegas. Others said "But you'll regret not having the big party" and all that.

And you know, there's a part of me that wonders if I wouldn't regret that if we had gone to Vegas. And there's a part of me that wonders if I don't regret not going to Vegas and having Rabbi Elvis marry us.

Do what you want. I think Vegas sounds like a grand idea.

Pirate ships are very cool. We have an ongoing debate about the relative cool factor of pirates, ninjas and Vikings.

If it turns out that a Vegas Pirate Ship is not financially feasible, I have the card for a pirate ship near Tampa on my fridge right now...it's something we were tossing around for [livejournal.com profile] zedrikcayne's birthday this year or next year.

If I'm in the wedding party... okay. (grin)

And shucks, you told me once that you've dated people that were >double your age, so turnabout's fair play, etc...

So does that mean you won't be poaching any of my new ummm, friends, most of whom are at least somewhat bi? ;)

You are a very sick individual. That's just so cool :)

Have you seen or read Equus? There is a nude scene, and I suppose maybe the laws are different in the UK re: these things if Daniel is still 17.

Of course actually seeing him perform in this play might ruin the lust, as the character he plays is quite disturbed. Or not!

Think perhaps Daniel might be trying to avoid being typecast? =)

It's certainly a departure, isn't it?

From speaking with the few English people that I know, 17 is the UK's age of consent... kind of like our 18.

And... on a pirate ship, wouldn't the wedding party be doing those moves with, say, cutlasses in their teeth? (or would look like seriously deranged pirates... ;-)

This is a twisted and delightful set of links. Especially the "wedding dance" :P

I am not ready for Harry Potter to be QUITE that grown up! Thank [insert deity here] that I don't go for young men, lest I be a truly dirty old lady!

More Steampunk links pleeze!

I think it's creepy how much he looks like my brother. He did in the first movie, looked like a young version of my brother. He still looks like him now that he's grown into himself a bit more. These aren't the best pics of him, but you kind of get the idea:

He's such a man-whore/goofball.

I understand banning the Electric Slide, but you just have to do the Chicken Dance.

What could possibly be wrong with lusting after someone half your age?
