deviantART presents BT and Thomas Dolby (via a link on Creating Passionate Users)

Local-area dates: Norfolk (Norva) 12/19, Baltimore (Sonar) 12/20, Philadelphia (World Café Live) 12/21, Alexandria (The Birchmere) 12/22, NYC (Canal Room) 12/23.

I'm trying to wrap my brain around the idea of BT at the Birchmere. For non-locals, it's an all-seated (at long dining tables) venue with a "no noise during the performance" policy. I'd really rather expect to see them at the 9:30.

Have you heard BT's newest CD, This Binary Universe? It's VERY different from what you've probably heard before (with the possible exception of parts of his score for Monster) -- all instrumental, much longer (IIRC each piece is 8-12 minutes long), and orders of magnitude more complex than his dance work. Keyboard magazine called it "the first major electronic work of the new millennium." They just might be right. It's amazing stuff, best listened to in a darkened room from the 5.1 surround mix on the DVD that comes with the CD.
