I just signed up for a class that requires me to be in Silver Spring by 8:45 AM on a Monday morning. Guh. I think that means being out of the house before 7 if I want to try finding a parking spot at Vienna and take the Metro and maybe earlier if I want to drive (which I really, really don't). Considering I don't normally even get out of bed before 8:30 during the week and have a 25 minute commute against traffic, this is going to be painful.

Any of you local types taken in-person classes at EEI before and have opinions you' d like to share?

I was quite underwhelmed by the Project Management for Multimedia class I took at EEI's Alexandria location a few years ago, but I think that had as much to do with the instructor as the course.

Speaking of training, do you happen to know anything about an outfit called Fig Leaf Software? Several of us at work are doing a class with them in a couple of weeks.

I keep forgetting that he sings, too. I thought he looked familiar when I first saw him on Doctor Who -- it was months before I realized I'd seen him in a couple of episodes of Great Performances on PBS several years ago.

Hm. I'm a little skeptical since I'm taking a database design class there; I'd probably be more confident if I was taking something in the editorial or design area. We'll see how it goes, I guess. I took one of their online accessibility classes and it was okay, but it wasn't instructor-led.

I know *of* them from my time working with Cold Fusion, but I've never actually taken a class with them.

I've taken classes from them, in both the VA and MD locations. Only editorial ones, though, as I recall. The computer classes I have taken have been from NOVA.

That said, the EEI staff seem to be very professional, know their stuff, good at answering questions, and one usually gets a good reference book along with most of their courses.

Pretty much none, since most of the commute is underground and the rest of the day is spent in a classroom. =) Moot point anyway, since the class got cancelled.
