Probably it'll be nuts. Then again, the last time I was at a book signing, it was for William Gibson and wasn't too bad. Of course, he wasn't as hot a property as Gaiman is.

I thought briefly about getting "American Gods" signed when he was at the National Book Festival, but the line was incredible. I haven't been to Politics & Prose yet</shameful confession>, so I don't have a real good idea of how painful it's going to be.

If you go, I'll look forward to your thoughts on the event. Gaiman's one of my favorites - though I come at him from the Sandman side, rather than the American Gods one - and Politics & Prose, which was my grandmother's favorite bookstore ever for years before she died, is a terrific venue for him.

Eh - I don't believe in needless shame (well, unless the person in question is into that sort of thing), and that certainly qualifies :-). I've only been a couple of times; the Kramerbooks in Dupont Circle has seen more of me, though its aisles (especially in the smaller room) are so damned narrow I wind up taking out half of the display tables with my child-bearing hips every time I'm in there. But my grandmother had excellent taste in many things, and in my mind that sort of haloes P&P.
