Jan. 6th, 2006 07:53 pmLovely. Guess who's coming to picket the memorial service for the West Virginia miners? Apparently they died because God hates gay cowboys and Dan Brown. Buh? (Not that logic has ever been a strong point with these wingnuts.) It's not very charitable of me to think "he's gonna get himself shot or maybe have a little accident on those West Virginia mountain roads that folks from Kansas just aren't used to, and I'll consider the world much better off if it happens", but if there's anyone out there utterly undeserving of compassion, I'm pretty sure it's Fred Phelps.

Maybe I should make up a sign that says, "Jesus loves everybody EXCEPT the WBC!"

Date: 2006-01-07 08:13 am (UTC)Don't worry, Pat Robertson will straighten this whole thing out!
Date: 2006-01-07 08:16 am (UTC)Every time a bunch of evangelical Christians go off and do something this inconsiderate, a whole lot more Christians who might have dared to make rude comments about homosexuals in general are embarrassed by it, and maybe they even stop for a moment and ask themselves what good the protests actually do? Are the protests supposed to protest their death? Their proper burial? Their being treated as "God's children"? (being atheist I'm speaking figuratively of course.)
That said, I want to thank you for bringing this to my attention. Were I not so tired I'd probably post something in my journal about this, and how much I can't wait to hear what Pat Robertson has to say about those nasty protesters... Pat just keeps outdoing himself but I think they creeps are even a few steps ahead of him on the shocking scale.

Date: 2006-01-07 02:21 pm (UTC)Maybe Fred got some secret copy of the "Unabridged - with Extra Smite" version of the New Testament.
For a supposed "man of G*d" he displays a complete and utter lack of Christian tolerance, forgiveness, and compassion.
fucker.

Date: 2006-01-09 08:10 pm (UTC)Let me explain.
Phelps has a very simple form of income. He and his family go to events and picket.
Anyone who attacks them or harasses them find themselves on the receiving end of a lawsuit.
"Pain and Suffering" damages are not taxable income.
Begin to see the pattern?
Phelps is deliberately going out to get people pissed, because he makes his living off the settlement funds.
