we're paying HOW much for this place?

I was trying to make myself feel less claustrophobic by unpacking my clothes and such and putting them in the closet. Our closet has those wire shelf-type things for stacking/hanging up clothes. I'd gotten through my dresses, sweaters and skirts and had just started in on my blouses when the entire wire shelf thing for hanging clothes on liberates itself from the wall and falls down, giving me a nasty thwap on the shoulder. So now I have no useful closet (the closet in the last place had no problem dealing with my clothes at all), and probably a nasty bruise on my shoulder too.

$1500 a month and we can't even get a functional closet. I hope to god the balcony is constructed better.

Just to test it, try putting all your clothes and such out there. If you have so many you break the closet, I'd definitely put those out on the balcony before stepping foot out there first.

See, that's the thing. I don't have that many clothes really, it's more that the closet construction is really shoddy. That shelf didn't have any support other than the very thin metal braces which aren't really enough to hold more than a few items (bolted directly into the drywall with nothing to really keep them there), there were none of the standard side supports that should keep the shelf from falling like there are on all the other shelves. I just didn't notice that until it was way too late.

The balcony, however, holds me and my cat and our patio furniture just fine, with no wobbles even. :)
