Tell me a story

Things I find out from reading Bookslut: Hugh Laurie wrote a novel. I did not know that (and now I am compelled to go hunt it down). [As a tangentially related note, I forgot that "House" wasn't on last night and so ended up deleting a "Fullmetal Alchemist" episode I probably shouldn't have removed yet from the DVR to make room to record an hour of @#$% baseball instead. Grump.]
Anyway, the "story" part:
Is that true? Do you have someone like that? (It's phrased the way it is because it refers to a specific character, but my question isn't limited to specifically men and their old flames.) If you don't want to 'fess up entirely publicly, anonymous posting has always been turned on, and I'll even turn off the associated IP logging for this post.
Anyway, the "story" part:
Every man alive has a Caro still rattling around his fading skull -- those wild, winsome and deeply dangerous girls that you can’t possibly live with and would drive over your grandmother to see just one more time.

Date: 2005-10-05 04:44 pm (UTC)Off the top of my head, there's an ex-stripper, a Jen, a teen-aged mother and a Romance The Never Was. I only miss them at moments, usually moments of dis-satisfaction with my life or loniliness. But, then, I'd drive over my Grandmother to go just about anywhere, even if it took me out of my way. I think that says more about my family relationships than my romantic past, though.
It's also possible that I'm dating one of those girls right now, but in a LRD/poly context, and so it's much safer...
Also, "The Gun Seller?" We have it. I haven't gotten around to reading it yet, but Mrs. Quinn loves it.

Date: 2005-10-05 05:07 pm (UTC)I might have once, but I'm not sure. There have been women I was madly, stupidly, insanely interested in, at the time (some of which were requited) and might have been that stupid about (hell, a couple of them I was), but afterwards, not so much.
Kim, well there was a year or so when I'd've walked barefoot across a desert for her, but I was young and stupid; unwise in the ways of women.
She fixed a lot of that, and I got my revenge eleven years later.
