I'd really been hoping to attract birds with this, but what showed up is so much funnier:

And since there's no point in climbing back up because someone might take your prime spot, you might as well eat where you are:



It's not like the neighborhood birds are suffering because of this; our neighbors have four or five feeders out.

A ruby-throated hummingbird stopped by to check out the new feeder this morning, but didn't stay long; given the racket the three thieves were making with their squabbling, I wouldn't have either.

As you can imagine, the cat spent most of the morning with his nose pressed up against the glass of the back door.

It's long since been demonstrated here that it's impossible to stop a squirrel from getting at any given bird feeder. They're just to cunning.

The only problem, really, is that there's starting to be some consern that the squirrels may be going after blue-bird eggs as well.
