Audioscrobbler
Jun. 2nd, 2005 11:53 amThis is my new favorite toy. As they say on the iScrobbler plug-in page, it's "a site where you can share your dubious music taste with the world". Basically, the idea is that you add a plug-in to your music player of choice, which then sends data for each track you play to the audioscrobbler server. Once you have enough data in your profile (I think it's 100 tunes), the site makes recommendations for you based on the playlists of people who share similar musical tastes. I just signed up last night and am still working up to enough tracks to get recommendations (and contemplating how to get the most bizarre combinations based on the random stuff in my iTunes and CD collections). If you're curious about my dubious taste in music, you can see what I'm listening to at any given moment here. The top artists/tracks lists aren't terribly representative yet, but neither are they completely unusual.
you?

This is relatively harmless stalkeresque behavior, much less annoying than calendar-counting. ;)
