While listening to some of the covers I recently obtained, the question of "Worst. Cover. Ever." came up. I maintain that if Sarah Brightman's "A Whiter Shade of Pale" isn't the absolute worst, it's at least in the top five. What do you consider the worst cover version you've ever heard? (We can leave out anything on the Golden Throats discs, as those go without saying.)

Damn.

Because I was going to go there.

There are several J-Pop covers of 'Ruby Tuesday' (wherein it is pronounced 'Luby Tuesday' all the way through) that make me want to claw my eyes out. Also the Hole cover of 'Hungry Like the Wolf'. That's pretty appalling.

Pat Boone's Crazy Train comes to mind. :-)

anything from the Pat Boone "In the Mood for Metal" album *dies*

that'll make anyone feel high.
Worth paying money for so you'll get the satisfaction of throwing it into the microwave.

Easy

I've always thought this Cantonese version of YMCA

and this I don't know what version of Love potion #9 came in a very very close second.

i heard snatches of Pat Boone's cover of "Enter Sandman" and wanted to run screaming. I seriously dislike Faith Hill's cover of "Piece of My Heart," but I don't know that I think it's awful in its own right or merely in comparison to the Janis Joplin version.

I once saw Celine Dion on TV performing the AC/DC hit, "You Shook Me All Night Long". Whew!

Celine doing AC/DC???

I think the Britney Spears cover of The Rolling Stones (I can't get no) Satisfaction is a good rebuttal

well, it's given that almost anything by her will come out horrid, and it's already questionably ripped off being as it's handed to her
