Took down an earlier post, since I got the venting out of my system. I got in about 45 minutes of crocheting earlier in the day, and that lowered the blood pressure quite a bit.

<AOL>I've got mail!</AOL>   Much mail goodness arrived in the last three or four days: I got a holiday mix CD from [livejournal.com profile] patgreene, an Amazon package with a few Christmas presents for folks inside (and the $8.99 DVD copy of "Joseph Campbell and the Power of Myth" I snagged for me should be showing up soonish too), a couple of holiday cards, and the water lily print I bought from [livejournal.com profile] pecunium. Absolutely gorgeous, it is; it was very pretty as a JPG, but that file didn't do the actual print any justice.   I've certainly got some talented friends; for all your photographic needs, you should ping [livejournal.com profile] indyansel and/or [livejournal.com profile] pecunium. And [livejournal.com profile] zuggy9, although I don't yet own a print of any of his work.</plug>

Now, off to Target to see if I can't find a replacement wreath since I can't find the one my coworker made for me last year. =(

[Edit: Grrr. "Normal" mode in Deepest Sender is pure evil. I've never seen anything other than Word mangle markup so badly.]

Thanks for the plug! :-)

You should be getting more mail in a couple of days (hint, hint). ;-)

Part of it is related to time, but shouldn't be ticking per se. ;-)

Aw, rats... I missed the earlier vent-post. I'll assume that if was anything I did, you'll let me know otherwise...

I suppose I need to find the tricks of LJ image hosting, so I can show people what you bought.

I'm glad you like it, and hope the matt suits the wall.

Sure. You can scan from the larger print (though it is a trifle cropped), or you can use the JPEG. The JPEG is probably smaller than a scan of reasonable resolution would be.

Though that's just a scan of the 2 1/4 negative.

It is. The amusing, well not to me, but in the abstract, is how little was actually removed. Maybe 2 percent. But compare the lower edge, where the lily pad is.

On the slide, the whole lily pad is present, and that's what I wanted. In the print, the lily pad is nicked, just the littlest bit, and that is so very affective of the final image.

When I next order a print from them, I am including a note, and if it isn't done to spec, it's going back, I may demand to be comped for the time (if I'm running a business, I can't afford to have an extra two-three weeks from promise to delivery) and then I may just have to find another printer. Which is a pity, because they have very good color.

But that crop annoys me. It's been a problem for years, because I compose to the edge of the frame. But most cameras don't show to the edge of the frame. My prefered do (the Nikon F3, and the Hassleblad 500 CM) which means the lab is prone to doing a small amount of blow-up. Which routinely pisses me off when I shoot negative color. It really pisses me off when any monkey with half a brain can see that the increase in size has clipped an important element of the picture (it was thinking I had screwed up about six shots a roll of B&W which pointed out how much a lab doing mass 4x6 expands... silly me I figured an aspect ratio print would have the whole negative).

So, to see it in all its inteded glory, the JPEG is better.

Missed the earlier post (hell, who am I kidding, I sort of missed the last, like, WEEK). Sorry to hear that you're having a rant-worthy time of it. May life clear up soonish.
