But DCIs since Allan Dulles (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Allen_Dulles) (derisively nicknamed "the Great White Case officer" when he was DCI, due to his tendency to try to micromanage operations that should have been left to agents in the field) have wisely stuck to the job of running the organization.
