You're freakin' kidding me. From CNN.com's "Breaking News" banner:

Senate Intelligence Committee approves nomination of Porter Goss to head CIA.

Guess admitting on camera that you're not even really qualified to work there these days isn't quite enough to derail a nomination.

He was talking about working as an agent in the field: I think that quote has been taken severely out of context.

I still wouldn't have voted for him, though.

If the job of DCI involved field work, he'd be totally unqualified. But DCIs since Allan Dulles (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Allen_Dulles) (derisively nicknamed "the Great White Case officer" when he was DCI, due to his tendency to try to micromanage operations that should have been left to agents in the field) have wisely stuck to the job of running the organization.
