I wonder if the fact that the icon on your post and on my own post on my friends page are animating in perfect sync is typical of animated GIFs. Must look that up sometime, preferably when I've not just rubbed my eye after recently eating Flaming Hot Cheetoes.

Yes, it is typical of animated .gifs. In fact, they should synch, unless the system brain farts and loads them separately. Even then, synching is more likely than not. :)
