Today is Prickle-Prickle, day 51 in the season of Discord, 3270.

Small bits of randomness from recent days:

I came home on Friday to find that our front yard has become a wildlife refuge for the lesser North American migratory plastic flamingo. Sna? I figure it belongs to a neighbor and someone will pick it up soon.

I got my boots in the mail...and they don't have any laces. I also got a postcard from Whitby from [livejournal.com profile] mrph.

Saturday: The flamingo is still holding court in our front yard, which has now turned into a small lake. Many iterations of "Why is there a flamingo in our front yard?", with no answers to be found.

I logged into Yahoo Messenger for the first time in many months and was immediately swamped with a ton of "X has added you to their contact list" messages. If I recognized you, I approved the request; if I couldn't figure out who you were, I didn't approve or deny. One of the folks I added and I had a mutual "Hi, how and who the heck are you?" moment yesterday (I had poked around, found their LJ, discovered that we had a couple of acquaintances in common and they seemed interesting, and added them to my contact list as well.)

Sunday: Still didn't know how we'd become a flamingo refuge, and I decided if it was still there on Monday I'd adopt it for our deck. On Monday I discovered that it was a housewarming present, which I assume was originally left on our porch and not on its side in a puddle in our front yard, so now I officially have a light-up pink flamingo.

In the live bird department, one of the pair of geese in the lake behind the house have had four six goslings. (There are now six newly-hatched babies and three slightly older goslings.) Watching the line of fuzzy babies toddle towards the water behind mama is an incredibly-happy-making thing.

Awwww.... but where'd the other two come from? There were only four last Thursday -- different family?
