The reason I've mostly stayed on this mailing list for the eight or nine years that I have -- those of you on it will know which one I mean -- is that it's not particularly unusual or surprising that a thread that started as a discussion of invitation software that is not Evite has now morphed into a discussion of the mechanics of a space elevator.
