Feb. 2nd, 2004 02:22 amThe reason I've mostly stayed on this mailing list for the eight or nine years that I have -- those of you on it will know which one I mean -- is that it's not particularly unusual or surprising that a thread that started as a discussion of invitation software that is not Evite has now morphed into a discussion of the mechanics of a space elevator.

2) I thought of you last week while a couple of my Linux-clueful coworkers were talking about their experiences with Gentoo installation; if it makes you feel any better, they didn't seem to be big fans of the experience, and I don't think either of them are currently running it. ;)
