Today is Prickle-Prickle, day 67 in the season of The Aftermath, 3269.

Happy holidays to those who are celebrating, happy day off of work for those who aren't. ;)

I did really well picking out gifts that C. would like this year. So well, in fact, that he bought himself two things off of the list of gifts I was giving him: the new Alien Quadrilogy DVD set and an MP3 player. The kicker about the latter is that he mentioned it Tuesday night, I went out yesterday on my way home from work to buy it for him, and when I got home I found the one he'd gone out about an hour before I did and bought for himself sitting on the counter. D'oh! At least I still have the receipt. That is why both he and I are kind of hard to buy for; if there's something we want, we tend to just go get it ourselves. I at least try to minimize that behavior around Christmas time though. ;) We avoided another duplication only because I didn't have enough cash on me to also pick up "Ratchet and Clank: Going Commando" for the PS2, which I knew he wanted; there was apparently already a copy for me under the tree. The pets had presents under the tree too; I got Gateway a Panic Mouse to swat around (which he seems to like so far) and Ed the guinea pig's present was the wrapping paper to munch on. ;)

[livejournal.com profile] brian1789 and [livejournal.com profile] patgreene sent me a kimono and a lovely green and gold brocade obi, I gather brought back from Brian's trip to Japan earlier this year. Eeee! I was also surprised by a package from S. and K. that showed up in the mail yesterday afternoon; it contained a beautiful embroidered shawl and a copy of a new Oysterband CD. Eeee! I am a bit miffed at Amazon to find that the package I sent [livejournal.com profile] indyansel hasn't arrived yet, after they told me it should've been there on Tuesday or Wednesday.

Tonight we're planning to do the traditional Christmas day activities: hit up Tower for their post-Christmas sale, go see a movie and probably get Chinese food. Later I'll dive into the book of haiku that my SSSSwap partner [livejournal.com profile] cr0wgrrl sent and see if I can get my temperamental CD drive to acknowledge the presence of the CD that was also part of the fabulous package she sent me.

Heh, my mom got my dad the same exact gift for Christmas that I got him for his birthday (Dec 22nd). Both of us ordered from Amazon, so now to find out about their return policy. My dad had mentioned the item he wanted to my mom, but I figured he'd like it without him having mentioned it to me.

And I still wouldn't mind seeing the pleather pants sometime, just not a la Vanna White by Gateway. ;-)

That's right! You promised that one (the pants)... (grin) I just hope that the kimono *fits*, because returning it would require a plane ticket ;-).

That is the best userpic I've seen in a while.
