Nov. 1st, 2003 02:17 amCut because it's about as detailed as a "What are you wearing today?" post to a.g.f., in case I want to reproduce it later. I went as a "Fairy Gothmother". ;) From the ground up:
- patent "witch shoes" with a 5" heel. (I find I like being 5'9", but these shoes are really not comfortable for standing for long periods of time without gel inserts.)
- sheer silver stockings
- a poofy black floor-length+ ballgown skirt, worn as a petticoat under a
- black panne dirndl skirt from Rose Mortem
- black panne London top from Lip Service (basically the top half of this, but in black; it looks much nicer in person than it does in the picture I think)
- large black and burgundy feather wings (a.k.a. Best. Cat Toys. Ever.)
- silver wand
- silver and garnet necklace
- Sally Hansen Skin Equalizing foundation in "Beach" and Physician's Formula loose powder in "Porcelain", Rimmel eyeshadow in burgundy and pale rose, black Sephora pencil eyeliner, Hard Candy lipstick in "Tramp", a metallic burgundy, and MAC lipglass in "Desire"
- black curly wig gathered into a ponytail at the neck and pulled over one shoulder, with sheer white fabric roses covering the elastic; disappointed that the white "Marie Antoinette" wig I originally wanted I couldn't find locally and didn't order in time to avoid having to pay about $100 for it if I wanted it shipped.
- black and silver lace half-mask on a silver stick
There are pictures, but they're on other people's cameras and I don't know when I'll get copies or if they're good enough that I'd want to share them anyway. D.'s reaction when I walked in was well worth the PITA of going to fetch wings at the costume store at 6 PM on Halloween. =) C. had no idea what I was wearing either, so he was surprised as everyone else. As an aside, I really love wearing long, full skirts with petticoats. I love they way the fabric moves and swirls, and having to lift the hem of my skirts to get up or down stairs. All I was missing was a corset and gloves. I am such a girly-girl it's not even funny.

(I'd still love to see a photo... did you dye your hair?)

*whimper*
I missed the sign that said that the 270 spur to 495 south was closed
What is with that road, anyway? First time I was through on it, I was confused. I'd have thought they'd give a different number to a different stretch of road.
Glad you had a good day. :-)

Date: 2003-11-01 12:01 pm (UTC)Which road, 270? Basically when you're coming south, the right three lanes continue straight and merge with the west side of the Beltway on the outer loop in the same way that 95 North joins up with the east side. The left three lanes split off and dump you on the north side of the Beltway on the inner loop heading east. So long as you're aware of where the splits are, usually you're okay.
