Oct. 24th, 2003 12:49 amToday was much better than Tuesday, not that that was hard to achieve. Don't feel like going into many details, but the gist was that someone had an issue which I feel they could've handled much more tactfully, and the way it was handled hit me in exactly the wrong way and sent me flying off the handle. There's been something in the air this week, as someone in the office has been having a crap day every single day this week. Maybe we're all starting to suffer from lack of sunlight; I'm already leaving in the dark if I don't cut out somewhat early or exactly on time. Depressing. I need to look into getting a lightbox for the office, I think.
Wednesday was also better than Tuesday, in large part because I had lunch with
indyansel and
aliciar, who are wonderful, charming people -- not to mention possibly insane for planning the drive they were in the midst of making. ;)
Let's not forget the retail therapy, as it's been a banner week for it. So far there's been: an autographed copy of Wil Wheaton's book, since the one I ordered earlier this year apparently disappeared en route; about $60 worth of music from the iTunes store; a pair of ankle boots which I adore, but which are killing me at the moment (need breaking in, and the toes are very narrow and very pointy -- good for kicking people in the shins); a pair of cotton Hello Kitty pajamas; a pair of black velour pajamas; a pair of Halloween-themed pajama pants with black cats; a cosy featherbed which I intend to snuggle into tonight as we get the first hard freeze of the year, and this umbrella. Gee, guess what I do when I'm feeling stressed or depressed? One might also see a theme, with the pajamas and the featherbed; I am definitely ready to settle in for my long winter's nap. I am successfully ignoring the fact that I have an email in my inbox with a code for 50% off everything on the Coldwater Creek website through the 27th, as I'm about done with spending money until at least payday. Having compared the code that someone on my friends list got with my own, I think they're giving out at least semi-unique codes; if anyone wants mine, first person to drop me an email gets it (leaving a comment is bad, as I'm just now getting some comments that were left yesterday afternoon).
And finally, since I couldn't resist this one:

Date: 2003-10-24 09:10 am (UTC)$60 from iTunes? That's an impressive haul for one week... Steve Jobs will be happy, maybe he'll even give you more website pointers ;-).
Cute umbrella, and I love the boots! They look very pointy... although now I'm worried that I screwed up when I picked round-toed boots for you in Spain. Oh, well...
Wish I could see your Hello Kitty pajamas ;-).

Date: 2003-10-24 03:26 pm (UTC)Not that hard to do at $10 per album. I've only bought a couple of single tracks, mostly I get full albums.
Steve Jobs will be happy,
Nah, they don't make any money on the music store, they've said as much. They make their money on the iPod.
maybe he'll even give you more website pointers ;-).
I'd really rather they didn't, thanks all the same. =)

Nope, round-toed boots are fine and generally preferable. I like pointed-toe shoes, but they aren't as practical as round-toed.

Date: 2003-10-24 06:43 pm (UTC)And there's no "possibly" necessary in front of "insane" in this context. We rolled into Ipswich at just before midnight, hitting snow and sleet in upstate NY and CT.
Are you sure you wouldn't want to be something like 3 i radical 5? ;-)
