3. I played alto sax in the school band and was good at it.
4. I stopped singing in front of other people after my grade school music teacher made a disgusted face when it was my turn to sing in front of the class.
5. I could probably carry most of a very light tune in a bucket if I had to, but generally I don't sing unless I'm in the car alone.
6. I am phobic about public speaking, the prospect makes me physically ill.
7. I never really dated in high school, with two exceptions.
8. I had to "borrow" a friend's boyfriend as a date or else I would have had to go to my senior prom alone (which you did *not* do at my school).
9. I went to a Catholic girls' high school, which probably doesn't explain nearly as much as you might think.
10. I also went to Catholic grade school, and a Catholic (er, Jesuit) college.
11. I never really learned to study in grade school or high school, as I rarely had to. Bit me in the ass later on, that did.
12. I spent the summer after seventh and eighth grade taking college-level classes at Duke University (the TIP program, for those who know it).

18. I love snow, but hate generically cold weather.
19. I'm from Mississippi, but I have no discernable Southern accent (except when I say a few specific words like "doggie" or when I get really tipsy). That's not intentional on my part, I suspect it has everything to do with my mom being from Long Island.

21. I've adored opera ever since I first caught a Met performance of "Tosca" on PBS.

I told him I got tired of doing that, so I wasn't going to do it any more. He asked how I expected my program to compile. I saved my file, ran my line-number program, and looked up. He offered to teach me any other language that term as long as I helped the rest of the students with their COBOL. And yes, he also called me a wise-ass.
