Nov. 18th, 2002 01:09 amGood things today: I had a very good conversation with my sweeties where I got to tell them how wonderful they are. =) C. and I went to the computer show in beautiful, scenic Gaithersburg and got me a new motherboard/1.2Ghz Athlon/fan/integrated video/audio cards (not that I need them)/modem (really not that I need this, but it wasn't an option to not get it)/a bit of memory for $100. Go us. (That more than doubles my current processor speed, which I'm not actually unhappy with, so I guess now I'll be twice as not-unhappy. Not much need for blazing processor speed when your Windows box is used mostly to ssh to your shell account.) I also got a wireless access point and a card for my laptop so now I can IRC from my sofa, yay! I came home to find a brain-warping conversation in LJ comments in my mailbox. I just saw a link to a photo named "flaming cheese" - I have no idea yet what it is, but it sounds like something I'd find amusing. Yep, I found it amusing. =) By the way,
mouseman, the answer to the burning question from last night is...Voodoo4.
Unfortunately a lot of that was cancelled out by coming home to find that our guinea pig, Emma, was suddenly quite sick. She went downhill very fast this afternoon and died this evening. =( This is the only part of having pets that I hate. At least she was a geriatric pig (at least five years old) and spent her life fat and lazy and happy.

Go you! We don't have wireless, yet, but we're still set up to use the laptops from the sofa.
