More recent reading:

31. Vampire Hunter D, Hideyuki Kikuchi. This would be the title I couldn't remember in my last reading post. I saw and enjoyed the anime long ago, and got the book for my birthday. The illustrations by Amano are lovely, of course, although I wouldn't object to there being more of them. I like the story, even though sometimes it's almost painful to read (whether that's the fault of the original or the translation, I don't know). Yes, D's very pretty. Got it already.


32. Dead I Well May Be, Adrian McKinty. Oh man, I think I've got a new favorite author. I don't remember if this was something claytonsghost recommended or if I stumbled upon it while wandering through Amazon, but when I saw it for $5 at Barnes & Noble I figured I'd cross one more item off my Amazon wish list. I loved it. It's dark, violent, and often very funny. I see there's another Michael Forsythe novel, I wonder if it's as good as this first one?


33. A Scanner Darkly, Philip K. Dick. Mostly I wanted to read this before seeing Linklater's next Giant Rotoscope Extravaganza. I'm sure I'd have been better served by not reading with a picture of Keanu as Bob firmly lodged in my head. "Whoah." Did I like the book? Honestly, I'm not sure yet.

Apparently, according to the Cox tech who came out yesterday, the reason our net connection wasn't working more than intermittently for the last week or so was because we were using 10.x.x.x addresses internally rather than 192.168.x.x and their side of things is only set up to recognize 192.168.x.x. o_O (For those who aren't also going "o_O" to that explanation: "Er, no. That's really not the problem." )

So.

Any of you fine folks out there have Verizon FiOS and opinions you'd like to share about your experience with it, particularly with tech support?
