List five songs that you are currently digging ... it doesn't matter what genre they are from, whether they have words or even if they're not any good but they must be songs you're really enjoying right now. Post these instructions, the artist and the song in your blog along with your five songs. Then tag five other people to see what they're listening to.
- Son Volt, "Driving the View" (Since I don't think I can get away with calling the entirety of "Wide Swing Tremolo" a song, I'll just pick the first one that normally gets stuck on repeat.)
- Whiskeytown, "Don't Wanna Know Why"
- Ryan Adams, "Sweet Illusions"
- Death Cab for Cutie, "Title and Registration"
- The Decemberists, "Here I Dreamt I Was An Architect"
I don't remember who all's done this and who hasn't, so I'm not going to tag anyone in particular. I'm always curious to see what other folks are listening to though.
Earlier today I was thinking about the fact that while my music collection is fairly eclectic, I tend to focus more strongly on certain genres at different times of the year. The summer soundtrack tends towards stuff like Son Volt and Wilco and Ryan Adams/Whiskeytown and southern rock. In the winter, I tend to listen to more synthpop mixed with stuff like the Cranes and the Changelings. Which reminds me it might be time to hit up Middle Pillar again soon. I can maybe see why the quieter stuff seems more winter-appropriate, but not sure how synthpop works itself in there.
