Random tidbits from the news:

White House Web Scrubbing - A little creative editing or removal of posted information that doesn't quite mesh with the administration's version of reality never hurt anyone, right?

The derailment of a CSX freight train in Alexandria, VA this morning has caused the cancellation of Amtrak service between Washington and points south.

The Israel Department of Commerce and the City of Austin, TX are migrating many of their desktop systems away from Microsoft Office and to OpenOffice.

Google plans to let users search text within books, their own version of the mightily annoying Amazon feature.

My personal favorite, swiped from [livejournal.com profile] nikkinewsnet: Part of Britain's new M6 toll road has been paved with 2.5 million copies of old Mills and Boon romance novels. Returned books were shredded and the paste added to a mixture of asphalt and Tarmac. "There is the old saying that the road to true love doesn't run smoothly but thanks to thousands of Mills and Boon romance novels we hope that the M6 toll will."
