Today is Sweetmorn, day 2 in the season of Bureaucracy, 3269.

People I want to dangle out a window a la Otto today:

  • Sallie Mae, who have locked me out of the web-based loan management application because I apparently forgot my password. The error message says that I should call their customer service number for help; guess who lets me go through 10 minutes of phone menus only to transfer me to a "go away, we're closed *click*" message? Screw you then, you'll wait for my money until my bank's online bill paying service gets around to cutting you a check.

  • My friend's ex, who forgot to pick up the kids this weekend and is screwing with friend's plans and hurting the kids in the process. Probably not intentionally, but still...

  • Verizon. 'Nuff said.

  • CompaqThe New HP, for making it so that instead of just being able to tighten up hinges on my laptop myself (the screen will not stay upright, I have to prop it up against a pillow or a stack of books), I have to take it to a service center and have someone replace them entirely. Cha-ching. Did I mention that this happened not too long after the warranty expired? Shocking, I know.

How cool is this?
From a remote region in the heart of Africa to a genetics lab at the Omaha Zoo, scientists are trying to find out if they have a new big ape on their hands. [...] "Discovering any new primate is a huge thing, a new ape would be incredible, " said Ed Louis, conservation geneticist at the Henry Doorly Zoo in Omaha, Nebraska.

Yes, I know apes != monkeys. It's a joke, son...ya eats it.
