Yesterday C. and I went to the new international grocery store in Centreville, Grand Mart. I've been mourning the loss of Lucky World, but this seems like a reasonable (and more convenient) replacement. Their produce section looked fabulous (and cheap!), and there was a fair amount of stuff there that I'd never seen before like jackfruit and bitter melon. They also have a sushi bar in the restaurant, how can you beat that? We spent a looong time wandering up and down the aisles, doing the "I wonder what this is? I don't know, let's try it and find out." thing. We came away with a few easy-lunch-item noodle bowls, a package of soba, some fantabulous-smelling oolong tea leaves and a package of those yummy rice cakes with red bean paste inside for me, a couple varieties of kim chi for C., some much-needed soy sauce and other seasonings, and some thai and habanero peppers. Not nearly as adventurous as I might've been given more time to wander and look closely at things...I sense a repeat visit in my future, especially since C. found the pepper flakes he'd been looking for for ages.

I'm also trying an experiment to see if I can eat bananas with appropriate digestive enzyme supplementation. I haven't had a banana in more than a decade, ever since I suddenly developed a severe intolerance to them. So far the experiment seems to be working; I've eaten an amount guaranteed to have caused a severe reaction previously, and so far no problems. I think perhaps this might work. *crosses fingers*

No big plans for tomorrow; C. is feeling a bit under the weather and it's supposed to rain again, so I think I'll bow out of going to visit my coworker. Maybe I'll go to the Michael's across the street, which I've discovered is really big and full o'Stuff and kill some time before we go see "Down With Love". Accomplished today: several loads of laundry (lots of sheets and blankets), finished "Bloodsucking Fiends", cleaning the kitchen and the refrigerator, grocery shopping, and for the first time history actually leaving Tower without having purchased a single thing.
