Today is Prickle-Prickle, day 12 in the season of The Aftermath, 3268.

Feelin' oogie today. Not sure why, but I woke up at 6:45 (after going to bed at 3:45) sick sick sick. Maybe the dinner we grabbed at a service area in Delaware at 1:30 in the morning wasn't agreeing with me? I at least got to go back to sleep for another 4 hours or so. Still feeling a little bit "off", but hopefully that will go away over the course of the day and I can manage to get stuff done around the house. It could happen.

I wish I could give a real review of the concert last night; the two songs we actually got to see were pretty good. =/ We got off to a later than expected start last night thanks to traffic hell on the Beltway when C. was making his way home; he got in around half an hour after we'd planned on leaving. We hit the highway around 8:20 or so, and got to Philadelphia just before 11 (pretty good, considering the rain).

Here's how our thought process worked: "Show started at 10 pm, which means more like 10:15. There was an opening band, let's figure they had half an hour, then a few minutes of gear-twiddling between acts. All things considered, we probably only missed about 10-15 minutes of Sing-Sing's set and we're okay". Um. No. Apparently this was the first time in recorded history where a show started on time, and there was no mucking around for ages between bands. Or maybe their set only consisted of five songs, but that seems unlikely. By the time we got there, they were on their next-to-last song. =/ There were also maybe 30 people there, which was disappointing.

It wasn't a total wash though; since the venue and the crowd were so small, C. got a chance to play fanboy and go talk to Emma Anderson for a bit afterwards. Apparently there had been a DC show on the schedule, but it got cancelled. Boy, wouldn't we have felt like idiots if we had only had to trek down to the 9:30 rather than Philadelphia. So anyway: two and a half hour drive up in the rain, 45 minutes at the venue, 10 minutes lost in Philadelphia trying to flee, three hours back counting a stop for food. Did I happen to mention that we might just be a wee bit insane?

(That's listed on the sign outside Gymboree as one of the reasons you should come in and apply to work there.)

And there was indeed all the cuteness I could stand - we went to the mall tonight without realizing that they were hosting trick or treating. We also went early enough that all of the youngest kids were out in full force. *squee* Little tykes barely able to walk by themselves in adorable fuzzy costumes. There were also a few "I can't believe you let your kid wear that" moments, namely the 6 year old in a devil costume which consisted mainly of a skin-tight, belly-baring red sequinned halter top and the requisite skin-tight red pants, and the girl who looked to be maybe 8 or 9 dressed as a policewoman in the hat, extremely short dress, handcuffs on the belt, and tall boots. Um...okay. I like that look on adult women, not so much on pre-teens. God, I feel like I'm turning into my parents, bitching about "kids these days"...
I think I'm going to go counteract that with a nice dose of "Evil Dead".

Uhhhhh...
"All her boyfriends were part of some weird elite group of S.F. types who got together every year in the forest and ate strangely flavored ice cream."

*snerk*

I'll grant you the "weird" part, but that's definitely part of the charm. ;)
