Today is Setting Orange, day 8 in the season of The Aftermath, 3268.

I had a lovely day today. I woke up to my cat curled up on my pillow and purring like a fiend in my ear. Rolled out of bed, caught one sweetie on AIM before he headed out for the day, spent some good quality time with another sweetie, and then headed north. M. and I went out to Annapolis to wander around and enjoy a beautiful fall day. We wandered Main Street and the campus of the Naval Academy, had good seafood for lunch, and generally enjoyed each other's company. He commented that I looked much less stressed out than I did the last time we saw each other (a few weeks ago), and I think I am. I hadn't thought about it really, but once it was brought to my attention I realized it was true. Today was one of those wonderful, no-stress days that I really needed

Until now, that is. *sound of forehead hitting the desk* *insert favorite expletive here*

Today is Sweetmorn, day 9 in the season of The Aftermath, 3268.

Today's project is all about hunting down broken links and starting to overhaul some of the old code in the web site/convert it to xhtml. At some point I'd like to make it more dynamic, but first I want to get it consistent and usable, then tack on more bells and whistles. I like writing code much more than I like research, it gives me a good feeling to have something concrete at the end of the day to point to and say "I got all this done today".

Today's nugget of joy from Mark Morford )

I'm still in a good mood from this past weekend, yesterday particularly. Go me. =) I sort of wonder though if I've perhaps been secretly replaced by a pod person (or Folger's Crystals) and I hadn't noticed...yesterday I was in A Mood[tm] which I haven't seen in ages. Not that I'm complaining. Or that anyone else who noticed said Mood[tm] is complaining, so far as I can tell. Just sayin'. *grin*

And in a sort of related note, one of my SOs has introduced me to the most fascinating woman. *whistles innocently and looks up at the ceiling while twiddling thumbs*

My alumni association is sponsoring a trip to Cuba led by a professor who has written several books on Cuba's cultural history. I am dancing around with excitement, even though I know in my heart of hearts that I won't be able to afford it. =/ I've sent off for the information anyway, hoping that I'll be pleasantly surprised. For the first time in recent memory, I'm happy I didn't delete their spam. =) Wannagowannagowannagowannago. *jumps up and down*

I'm still not donating to the annual fund though. I haven't yet finished paying off the $80k, you don't get any more until I've had a good long time without loan payments due.

In other exciting travel news: Boston in November (8-10). What a good idea for a tropical vacation, followed only by Edmonton in February. ;) I am officially going to APC9, and will probably have some small amount of time free over the course of the weekend if anyone wants to meet up for lunch/dinner/general hanging out. I'm not sure yet if I'm driving or flying or taking the train; I'm tempted to do a train trip since it's 8 hours of being able to do other things while travelling. It's also by far the least flexible of the three options. Things to ponder...
