Today is Setting Orange, day 53 in the season of The Aftermath, 3167.

Job stuff, woo. I got email yesterday from washingtonjobs.com, from a company that is interested in scheduling an interview this week for a full-time position. Having looked at the web site, I've decided I probably would like their corporate culture, only catch so far being that they weren't clear about what exactly they were hiring for. Oh well, sent back an email asking about that and probably should call later this afternoon in case the recruiter is one of those folks who doesn't check email all the time. Second out-of-the-blue contact about potential jobs in a week, which is more than I've had in the last six months, so maybe things are starting to look up here.

The bad thing is that since I got promising signs from that other job I've interviewed for, I've been slacking off on actively looking for anything else. ("YAY!" "No, GIR, that's *bad*.") I check my monster agents every day, but the one that gets the most hits is so broad that most of what turns up I'm not really qualified for. I have to get back in the habit of applying for at least one job a day, every day, until someone makes me an offer. Gotta stop slacking, I can't afford it anymore.

Speaking of slacking, I was a big ol' geek and bought tickets for the noon showing on the 19th of LotR. I think I can avoid the "drooling fanboy" label by virtue of the fact that I've never been able to make myself finish even the first book. I figured I could spend three hours of my life staring at a computer screen, or at Liv Tyler. Guess which one wins?

Anyone who might feel inclined to get me a holiday present should consider making a donation to Best Friends, a no-kill animal sanctuary in Utah. I got a flier in the mail from them today, and am mightily impressed. Animals that are too badly traumatized by past treatment, or are old, handicapped or chronically ill can remain at the sanctuary permanently if they aren't adopted.

I just saw "Hush" in its entirety for the first time tonight (I'd seen the Weetabix conversation up through the bit about how "private conversations aren't so private when they take place in front of my friends". Wow. Just...wow. The Gentlemen completely wigged me out; I think the utter silence makes them much scarier than they would be otherwise.

Between Middle Pillar and CD Baby, I could definitely go broke. Will treat myself after I'm employed, I'll keep telling myself that.
