Anyone who might feel inclined to get me a holiday present should consider making a donation to Best Friends, a no-kill animal sanctuary in Utah. I got a flier in the mail from them today, and am mightily impressed. Animals that are too badly traumatized by past treatment, or are old, handicapped or chronically ill can remain at the sanctuary permanently if they aren't adopted.

I've just been forcibly reminded of how much STUFF we have here (moved to a smaller apartment with less storage space); if I had more space and less stuff, I'd rescue a few animals myself. Since I can't, might as well lend a hand to someone who can. =) I admit I got the idea from a friend of mine who mentioned charitable donations as possible gifts, which I thought was a great idea.
