I think I'm going to start alternating "It's not stupid...it's advanced!" and "No, that's The Orb" (http://www.loopz.co.uk/faq/why.html) when people ask me random questions.

Today is Pungenday, day 41 in the season of The Aftermath, 3167.

So I went to go pick up some paperwork to be filled out for this potential job (their HR stuff is all outsourced), and end up talking to the director for about an hour. I like her, my impression is that she neither gives nor takes any bullshit. She tells me that the last guy I interviewed with liked me, which surprised me since I felt like I made a pretty incoherent impression (although as Chris keeps telling me, my opinion on this kind of thing has been shown to be wrong over and over again), and gives a time frame for when the whole hiring process should be finished. And then I check my voicemail in the car before getting back on the road, and find voicemail from last night saying that they have some more people to interview, but I'm the leading candidate. Woohoo! *does a little happy dance of possibly-soon-to-be-employed-ness*

Chris seems to have not gotten back from his 10 am interview in Reston yet. I take that to be a good sign too. Maybe in the beginning of next month we'll both be employed again, just in time to let me buy Xmas presents for everyone. <GIR>Yay!</GIR> I've been thinking that setting up the tree and everything wouldn't be as cheer-inducing as it normally is since I really like to give people presents and it was seriously looking like I wasn't going to be able to do much outside my immediate family. I won't count on this job coming through yet, since I suppose there could be someone who is a perfect match for all the skills they want who's willing to work for $10k less than I am coming through the pipeline, but I think it's unlikely. I'm going to be somewhat cautiously optimistic about this one.
