Today is Setting Orange, day 38 in the season of The Aftermath, 3167.

I've always liked that one, "Setting Orange".

Tonight's big plans consist of writing some PHP code for a registration form, revamping the resume a little bit, and perhaps watching Photon: The Idiot Adventures again. Yes, that really is the name of the series. It's from the same folks who did Tenchi Muyo, which would probably be pretty apparent even without it being plastered on the DVD packaging, as the characters and lots of the interactions are pretty similar. For once, the "if you liked X then you'll like Y" trick actually worked. Everyone who said "if you liked Bubblegum Crisis then you'll like Evangelion" was just wrong. I was not sure whether or not to laugh or cry at the big notice before the first episode that all of these animated characters who might happen to be briefly nude were over the age of 19. Better to CYA than not, I suppose.

Hopping around on friends of friends pages, I found this most excellent post. The timing was interesting because earlier today I had a discussion with someone who said that they were afraid to pare down their friends list because of the potential for drama. I hate that friends lists seem to have turned into some kind of popularity contest, where if someone adds you as a friend then you feel obligated to add them as well and being "de-listed" can be such a huge drama. <generalization> I suspect however that such things occur less often the further to the right on the age distribution curve one happens to be; I'd like to hope so anyway.</generalization> The people on my own friends list right now are people that I know offline and people whose writings -- here in LJ and/or in other forums (usenet or mailing lists) where I am just too shy to delurk-- I enjoy reading. (No, I don't mean that I don't enjoy reading stuff people I know in Real Life[tm] write. =P ) I'm surprised and flattered when I find that people have added me to their friends lists, as I think I rarely say much of anything that anyone other than myself would care to read.

On an utterly random note tangentially relating to friends lists, there are communities devoted to posting quiz results. Heh. If fuali.com ever goes down, it's going to take forever for journals to load while waiting for the time out.
