Well. Suffice it to say that I just got home around 6 pm tonight. But we'll get to that in a minute.
Went up to Noho for Shadow's birthday party and a date with Wolfy. The train ride was (as always on Fridays) long, dull and crowded up until about New London. But better than Logan. ;) Wolfy met me at the train station with gorgeous flowers, and then we went directly from Rte. 128 out to Noho, so I spent 10 hours in transit.
Saturday was the party. A good time I think was had by all, had yummy sushi at the restaurant and then got to enjoy the embarrassment of Wolfy (I at least knew it was coming) by the presentation of three feet of rubber tubing, some lube and a yak. Two yaks, actually. And some other stuff that was related but not as funny (and *cough* more useful). ;) Watched a god(zilla)awful movie (y'know, maybe Godzilla really is inside each of us, and perhaps the hokey pokey really is what it's all about) and Blue Submarine No. 6, which was pretty darn cool. Admired Stormcloud's metal and ink from mostly afar. Got to see Amy and Porn again, woohoo! (Unfortunately we never quite managed to hook up on Monday or Tuesday as we'd hoped.) Met some other nifty people too.
Sunday we'd planned to go look at a hotel for sale somewhere just to the east of the middle of nowhere with a group of folks, but it didn't happen. Spent some time with Shadow and Pixi and Bonnie and Mike perusing various bookstores. *drool* I really miss working in an academic bookstore sometimes. Quote of the trip: "Enjoy your mutated fuzzy alien space bunnies!" (B&N employee to Wolfy, who bought me a copy of "The Velveteen Rabbit" and himself a copy of Giger's "Necronomicon" *snicker*) We went up to Pixi's place for dinner, where I think I saw almost as much snow at one time as I have in the entire rest of my life. *boggle* Well, okay, maybe not. But it was darn close.
Monday was rough...neither of us wanted to leave. We took a trip up to Yankee Candle, which I'd never been to. Wowsers. Somebody bought me a little fuzzy bunny which I've been clutching all day. =) We also both decided to get rid of some of our huge quantities of change and tossed it all into the moat in the castle display area (which I think is what caused our problem - we both I suspect wished for the same thing). Eventually headed back in to Logan, got there a bit after 6. Of course everything was delayed and backed up and crowded, so we sat around at the gate with a million people.
Somehow, I honestly don't know how, I managed to miss the boarding announcement for my flight. I think that maybe we had gone upstairs to check on the scheduled departure time, which hadn't been set when I'd called the info number. We'll skip over the humiliation at the counter. =) At any rate, there were no more flights out that night that had any seats, and the options today were 6:15 am and 3:20 pm. Duh, like I'm going to get up for a 6 am flight. ;) Oh, woe is me! Had to spend another night with Wolfy. It was horrible. Well, actually... On our way out to find a hotel to crash at, transmission problems became more severe and oil pressure went bye-bye. Oops. So we sat in a parking lot at the tollbooths for the Sumner Tunnel (thank god not in traffic) for 3 hours waiting for AAA to show up and tow the car back. Ended up crashing at Wolfy's place as it was 3 am when all was said and done and we were too exhausted to do anything else. Someone's got a twisted sense of humor...grant our wishes that I didn't have to leave that night, but then curse us with spending most of our extra night together waiting for AAA to show up.
At any rate, I'm home now. Almost wasn't again...I really wanted to get off that shuttle bus to the plane and stay, but I didn't. *sigh*
