The sun came out today. Finally. I think it was the first day in the last month or so that it hasn't rained (at least it didn't that I'm aware of). Let's see how long this lasts. [crossing fingers that *ahem* the sun will come out tomorrow]

I called my sister this afternoon to see if they were going to be able to come up for Thanksgiving this year, and found out that she's pregnant again. Another niece or nephew, yay! I love being an aunt; I can indulge any potential maternal instincts and then give them back to mom and dad. I am so not cut out to be a mother, I think; givebacks are definitely the way to go for me. I don't think she's thrilled about the idea right now, especially since her husband's new insurance policy from his employer doesn't have any maternity coverage at all. =P (I could rant all day about my brother-in-law's employer, but I'm enjoying my decent mood and don't want to wreck it.) I think most of all right now she's afraid it will end up being twins or triplets or something like that. God, I hope not; she's stressed out enough as it is. We'll find out next week, I guess... Anyway, they're going to come up to my place for Thanksgiving, which should be fun. J.'s never been to DC before, and sounds really interested in the museums, P. (my nephew) will go totally nuts over the zoo, and I'll have the perfect excuse to go be touristy. I think my sister will be happy just to not be at home for a while.

She also mentioned that my brother and his girlfriend are finally getting married at the end of this month up in Gatlinburg. I'm waiting to see when he gets around to telling me; he just told my sister this afternoon and I didn't get the impression from her that the plans had been made very long ago, maybe a couple of days.

Unrelated to any of that, I finally got out to Staples and bought myself a whiteboard. I didn't realize how dependent I was on my whiteboard in my office to keep me organized and functional until it wasn't there. A trip to Staples never hurts the mood either. =) Mmmm, stuff. Bought a whiteboard, some colorful dry erase markers, and a bunch of Powerpuff Girls stuff that I stumbled across, and drooled on the beautiful Mission-style desk I've been lusting after for a while. When I got home I cleaned off my desk a bit, hung up the whiteboard and started my list of stuff I need to do. It's really bizarre how just looking at the list on the whiteboard seems to give me inspiration to actually get started on it. But not tonight, need to go to bed now so I can go work out with E. tomorrow.

Oh, baby, I wonder if when you are older
someday
you'll wake up
and say, "My God, I should have told her -
what would it take?
But now here I am and the world's gotten colder
and she's got the river down which I sold her."
