Today is Setting Orange, day 35 in the season of Chaos, 3168.

What can I say about Austin? Not that much, actually, as I think I left the hotel maybe three times total. It was a long week; up at 7:30 every morning, which actually resulted in my getting to sleep before midnight at least one evening (I think that's one of the signs of the Apocalypse), meetings every day (luckily (?) J. beamed me a copy of Bejeweled on Tuesday), getting introduced around to everybody (pretty much literally), learning about various subcommittees and what sorts of things they're working on now, yaddayaddayadda. I was even the subject of a trivia question during the annual meeting. =) Swank hotel, although I don't know that we'll be back there again. Nice lobby bar. Absolutely fabulous rooftop hot tub, which most of us were sadly ill-prepared for. Nice big steak dinner with a big group on Thursday. Bonding with the new cow-orkers, which I think went well. I don't think I'm up for doing this on a very frequent basis, but every once in a while it will be okay. Not enough time to wind down post-meeting though, as we were out and on the road to the airport at 6:30 am on Friday morning. Overall opinion: could've been much worse and had some pretty good moments. Note to self: nose ring will make some of the board members uncomfortable, it was a good plan to not wear it to the meeting this time.

Spent the weekend doing absolutely nothing but enjoying not being in a hotel (swank though it might've been) and cuddling with my cat, who apparently realized on Wednesday that I wasn't around and thus became really clingy when I got back, after the requisite sulk of course. We were welcomed back to the office today with a few hours of "Hey, it's snowing, cool! Er, wait, now it's sunny again. Um, never mind, it's snowing again, and this time it's snowing *horizontally*." And let's not forget the car parked near my office window that had its alarm set off 4 times by the force of the wind, almost always just as soon as I settled in to concentrate on something else.

I haven't been feeling energetic enough lately to do a lot of updating, although I try to keep up on reading. Not that anything exciting has been happening really that I feel should be immortalized either. I should be devoting more energy to learning perl too, but inspiration level is kind of low again (especially now that there's actually stuff I can do at work). Maybe it's time for upping the morning supplement dosage again to keep motivation levels from plummeting.
