Today is Setting Orange, day 5 in the season of Chaos, 3168.
It is the sacred Apostle Holyday of Mungday.
I think I probably ended up getting most of the sorrow out of the way long before this week, as I seem to have progressed relatively quickly to anger. Well, not anger exactly, but something like that. Maybe a bit of bitterness, which I hope goes away quickly. I don't like the feeling at all, and it's really not how I'd rather remember things. I think soon everything will just be okay. It will happen, I have confidence in that.
On another front, I really hope my friend and her kids don't somehow get dragged into this other mess too deeply. They've been pretty good so far at keeping other people's names out of the papers; I hope that continues, as about the last thing she needs is Fox "News" at her door. As she put it, it will probably all come barrelling her way at some point. Fscker. I still can't even think about it without feeling pissed off and completely disgusted. You just don't do that kind of thing. I think she and I are going to get together next week and just try not to think too much about it. We haven't gotten together in way too long, and it's sad that it takes something like this to bring it about. Certainly puts my little bits of stress in perspective, at least.
Hopefully these rumors of snow tomorrow will be actual fact, rather than another one of those "ooooh, 5 inches of snow tomorrow" forecasts that ends up with it just being partly sunny and really freakin' cold. If it has to be cold, I want at least a little snow out of it, damnit. May try to get out in the morning and get some errands done, as I need to start transitioning into waking up before 11:30 anyway. Then if I'm lucky, home to watch snow and the new Buckaroo Banzai DVD and eat toasted cheese sammiches and tomato soup. I suppose I could turn on the fireplace too. *chuckle* Gas fireplaces are about the most useless things ever, but that's the only option we got in these apartments. I miss the smell of wood fires and sitting right on the edge of the area within which it's just Too Hot and listening to the crackle. The only thing I've found rewarding so far about the gas fireplace is that the "whoosh" when it gets turned on is just endlessly fascinating for the cat. "Do it again, Mom!"

Date: 2002-01-09 09:35 pm (UTC)I am disillusioned with the gas fireplace. Neither this one nor the one in the last apartment put out any noticeable heat. Makes the room smell nasty too, best to keep a window cracked if you're going to have it on. Plus the best part of the fireplace for me is the smell of the wood burning. Once I get a house, if I can't get a fireplace I'm getting a wood-burning stove.
BTW, once I get back from Austin and get paid, the four of us should go out for a "we're mostly employed" dinner. Hopefully by the time I get back from Austin, we'll ALL be employed.
