Chris got me Tigger footie pajamas for Xmas. Yay! Unfortunately, they don't fit. Boo!

Had a nice dinner with E. and R. and E.'s dad tonight, followed by watching Moulin Rouge finally. Y'know, in the context of the movie, I can actually stand that version of "Lady Marmalade". Mmm, gorgeous costumes. The plan is to have a viewing party where everyone has to write down the artist and title of every song they recognize in the movie, and whoever identifies the most gets a bottle of wine or something.

I finally managed to finish A Distant Mirror. On to House of Leaves, which was one of those things discovered in a box that hadn't been unpacked in the 8 months since we moved. H. tells me it's good, but this makes me nervous: "Danielewski takes an academic's--or ex-academic's--glee in footnotes (the similarity to David Foster Wallace is almost too obvious to mention)". Yes, it really is a never-ending joke, and it's on you.. At least with Tuchman's book, I could skip the footnotes.

I've never read House of Leaves, but have you heard of Poe? She's the author's sister, and her album Haunted is like a companion piece to the book. And I'll take this opportunity to say that the album is excellent!

I myself have been obsessed with Harry Potter recently. I read over half the second book in one night. (which is not much of an achievement considering the reading level, I suppose)
But I rarely take that much time out of my day to read!
