Okay, I've found a bright side to Macromedia taking over Allaire's products: actual printed documentation, something that was sadly lacking in previous versions of this software.

And...you're kidding, right? Just read a bit on CNN that the running time for "Lord of the Rings" was confirmed at 2 hours and 58 minutes. Did you cut anything out? Yeesh. And this is only the first one.

I don't know, I could never make myself finish reading the books. I don't actually like Tolkien. =)

No, not really. Can't get into his stuff. I found it impossible to slog through. I may try again to read the books because I hate having books that I never finish (I even gave Cryptonomicon a second chance and ended up liking it once anything started happening), but I don't have it high up on my priority list.

There's some Dork Tower that you need to read. ;) "I think we may yet have some use for this wizard." *giggle*

I have tried twice to read the books and once to listen to them (BBC radio show). They are a hard read. I understood more from the radio drama and kept up with it, but I did not find it as compulsively absorbing as my husband and other Tolkien fans seem to.

Having said all this, I'm looking forward to the movie because it LOOKS SPECTACULAR! At 2+ hours, thats ok - I've just about finished sitting through 9 of Elizabeth R.

It does look pretty. I think that two and a half hours is about my limit for sitting in a theater and actually enjoying the experience though. That extra half hour is making me much more hesitant to actually go see it in a theater as opposed to waiting for the DVD that I can pause as needed while I get up and walk around.

We discovered with Harry Potter that the trick to seeing a really popular movie is to go late during the week. There were *maybe* 20 people in the theater last night, which was nice. And the new Episode 2 trailer is much better than the obscene phone call teaser.

gawd I love him. First read the hobbitt when I was around seven... reread it several years later and understood it. Read all of the lord of the rings stuff, plus some of his other stories like farmer giles of ham.

course this is all my dad's fault. He's practically a tolkien schollar. I think he even knows some elvish. I know that he almost named me El-Anor (sp?) elvish word meaning sunstar (ie dandilion)

course I also almost was named Ruth after an ex girlfriend.

So I've been waiting with baited breath for this movie... thinking I'll wait until I can see it with my dad though. Cause I know he'll love it and want to see it too.
