I missed the first 5 minutes also. Didn't tape it. Pam had an emergency blood sugar crash, and Needed To Eat Right Now!
Anyway, on Buffy.
Buffy is home, and Dawn is fussing over her in the upstairs bedrooms. Dawn is explaing the changes, Willow and Tara have moved into Joyce's bedroom. Spike enters the house, and starts yelling at Dawn about being unsafe while last week's demons were about. As Dawn starts to talk to Spike Buffy walks down the stairs. Spike starts to help treat Buffy's hand wounds, and is being calm and sympathetic and nice, when the rest of the scooby gang walks in. They start gushing over Buffy, who is clearly uncomfortable, and Dawn snarls at them to "Back off" a few times. Buffy goes to bed, scoobies go home, xander bumps into Spike outside, who is 1) Pissed that they didn't tell him, and 2) angry that willow was doing something dangerous with buffy. He knew there was a risk that buffy would come back wrong, and that spike wouldn't let them kill almost-Buffy. Spike warns them that magic always has its consequences. The next 20 minutes is spent with various members of the scoobie gang getting possesed, and the gang trying to figure out what demon got brought back from Hell with Buffy. Dawn gets hysterical when they think that buffy may be in danger again. Finally they figure out the spirit wasn't a hitch-hiker from hell, but was created to balance karma, Buffy coming back is major good, so something bad has to happen. The spirit overhears that the spirit can live if Buffy dies, so goes to take out Buffy. Spirit starts beating hell out of Buffy, since buffy can't touch the spirit. Willow and Tara cast spell to solidify demon, and Buffy cuts off demon head. Dawn looks at cut off head and says "I guess that is one of the thigns I shouldn't be seeing". Buffy continues to mope. Buffy finally thanks scoobie gang for bringing her back from hell, and apologizes it took her so long. (Half way though the episode Willow wonders if she is a bad person because she's annoyed Buffy hasn't thanked her.) Buffy leaves group hug session to go outside to be alone. Spike is there of course, even though its daytime, and notices Buffy still moping. He gets her to tell him what is wrong. Buffy hadn't been in hell, she'd been in a warm place that was peaceful and nice, and pleasant, and knew all her friends were safe. She knows it was heaven, and things were wonderful. She's no longer in heaven because of her friends, and she is resentful. Buffy turns to Spike and says "And they must never know that!"
